CREVENTIC – MICHELIN 12h MUGELLO 2025 – Review
The qualifying sessions for the Michelin 12H Mugello were incredibly exciting, with plenty of intense competition across all the classes! The Ferrari 296 GT3 from CCC Kessel Racing definitely stood out, with David Fumanelli putting in a spectacular final lap to secure the pole position. His performance, particularly in the tricky dusk conditions, was clearly a highlight of the day.
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO teams, including Heart of Racing by SPS, HOFOR Racing, and Red Ant Racing, all had strong showings as well, with Heart of Racing by SPS securing the front-row start and AM class pole. The fact that the battle for pole in GT3 was so tight, with just a few tenths of a second between the top cars, speaks to the level of competition this race is shaping up to have.
What a dramatic and unpredictable race at the Michelin 12H Mugello! It was a race full of twists, with the rain playing a huge role in shaping the outcome. David Fumanelli and CCC Kessel Racing were dominant for much of the race, but the four-lap penalty for not fulfilling the minimum driving time for their AM/AM drivers completely changed the result. That penalty handed the victory to MANAMAURI ENERGY BY EBIMOTORS, with Fabrizio Broggi, Sergiu Nicolae, and Sabino de Castro taking the win in what must have been an emotional and hard-fought race.
Broggi’s reaction says it all, after a challenging Saturday in the wet conditions, it was a fantastic performance by the team, especially with the strategy to manage the dry conditions on Sunday. His team-mates did a stellar job during the tricky weather on Saturday, and Broggi sealed it with a smart and safe drive on the final day.
The second place was still an incredible result for Heart of Racing by SPS, with Ian James, Gray Newell, and Hannah Grisham showing great consistency and skill through both the wet and dry segments of the race. It’s clear they’ve got a strong and balanced team for the endurance races.
Era Motorsport also had a great showing, finishing third overall and taking the PRO-AM victory with their Ferrari 296 GT3, a solid performance in their debut European race. Despite CCC Kessel Racing’s penalty, their drivers Fumanelli, Marco Frezza, and Alessandro Cutrera put up a strong fight and finished fourth.
The GT4 class was also thrilling, with Venture Racing claiming victory in the No.421 Mercedes-AMG GT4, maintaining their lead throughout the final five hours. Similarly, Vortex Racing topped the GTX class, with the Gomez brothers’ No.702 Vortex 2.0 securing a dominant win.
There was also a heartfelt moment during the weekend, with the Spirit of Race Award presented to Kenneth Heyer, who continued to race with Red Ant Racing despite the personal tragedy of losing his sister. The motorsport community really came together to support him, and it’s a testament to his resilience.
This race definitely lived up to its billing with its mix of drama, skill, and emotion. It must have been thrilling to watch as the conditions changed and the penalties altered the outcome. Are you looking forward to more races in the Michelin 24H Series, or is there a particular team you’re following throughout the season?
